&lt;p&gt;Microservices are sold on a comforting promise: break the monolith, distribute the load, isolate the failures. The Barabási-Albert model says otherwise. Architectures grow through &lt;em&gt;preferential attachment&lt;/em&gt;, and that growth produces a heavy-tailed power-law degree distribution every time. The fallout is structural: distributed systems inevitably spawn &lt;strong&gt;Hidden Hubs&lt;/strong&gt; — bottlenecks no one architected, but which exert a kind of systemic gravity.
